The PRC request is a 2 step process. First, pick a time and then complete the application with all required documents attached in order for the appointment to be confirmed. The link for the application will be on the confirmation of time requested email. Any appointments that do not have an application with ALL required documents will be rescheduled.
Prevention, Retention, and Contingency (PRC)
Miami Valley Community Action Partnership (MVCAP) is operating the Prevention, Retention, and Contingency (PRC) program on behalf of Montgomery County. PRC helps families residing in Montgomery County overcome immediate barriers to self-sufficiency. Benefits and services are for unemployed and low-income employed families or individuals in need of non-recurrent, short-term, crisis-oriented benefits to help during a crisis.
Please note, there is a monetary cap on PRC and assistance is limited to once every 12 months per covered service. Any amounts owed in excess of the monetary cap must be paid prior to PRC payment.

- Utility Assistance
- Housing Assistance (rent, mortgage, emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence)
- Car Repairs
- Family Disaster Assistance (flooding, fire, and other disasters)
- Student Enrollment Incentive (assistance with K-12 school fees, clothing, and supplies)
- Legal Fees (for evictions or victims of domestic violence)
- Property Tax Payment
- Transportation Services
- GED testing fees and completion incentives
Who May Be Eligible
- Families with minor children
- Pregnant women
- Victims of domestic violence
- Non-custodial parents of minor children (Ohio residents not living in same household as child, cooperating with Child Support Enforcement Agency)
Income Eligibility
U.S. Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG) are used to determine financial eligibility for PRC. To be eligible for PRC, the applicant's Total Household monthly income must be at 200% of the FPG or below.

Required Documentation
Failure to provide all required documentation will delay your assistance. We require the following documents:
- ID for the applicant
- Documentation regarding your emergency
- Verification of all household income for 30 days prior to application
- Child support documents or proof that child is in your household
- Proof of residency (Montgomery County residents only)
- Social security number for primary applicant and all applicable household members
Please note after reviewing your documents we may request additional information to complete your application.
How to Apply
Applications are accepted by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, click on the "Schedule an Appointment" button above, or call 937-660-9898. This system schedules phone interviews or in-person appointments at our Dayton office (719 S. Main Street, Dayton, OH 45402). New appointments are released weekly on Mondays at 9:00am.
If you schedule an appointment for a phone interview, an MVCAP processor will call you at the number you provided when you scheduled the appointment. Please answer the phone even if you do not recognize the number.
Once an appointment is scheduled, you will receive a link to the application and a portal to upload documentation. If you do not have the ability to upload documentation, you may bring your documentation to an in-person appointment.
